REDES was founded in 2015 by Dr. Ousmane Pame, the former mayor of Gu\u00e9d\u00e9-Chantier and current president of the <\/span>Global Ecovillage Network <\/a>Africa<\/a>. The village of Gu\u00e9d\u00e9-Chantier had been operated under ecovillage principles since 2007, and has since become the nucleus of REDES\u2019 network.
